The **Research Associate** will conduct research on this **Leverhulme project** under the guidance of Dr Clemens Kupke and in close collaboration with Dr Corina Cîrstea and a second Research Associate at the University of Southampton. They will use this to develop their own research portfolio with a view to developing future project proposals.

Associate on Leverhulme project grant COVER: Coalgebraic Foundations of Quantitative Verification
We are seeking a **Research Associate** whose main goal is to expand and enhance together with the PI, the theory supporting a novel framework for quantitative verification that includes aspects such as costs or rewards. Our efforts revolve around innovative foundations rooted in a coalgebraic description of systems. Our objective is to broaden the range of application of model checking by utilizing more universal models and specification logics, as well as to enhance its scalability by emphasizing compositionality and abstraction in model checking processes.
The main responsibility of this position will be to establish a categorical structure that renders our framework for quantitative verification compositional, enabling coalgebraic elements to be integrated smoothly to construct larger systems and thus, to enhance the scalability of our algorithms. Therefore, the ideal candidate should possess a solid theoretical background and hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Mathematics specializing in Logic, Verification, and basic Category Theory knowledge, or possess substantial relevant experience, in addition to a related degree. This is a 6-month fixed-term role.
COVER is a collaborative initiative between the University of Southampton and the University of Strathclyde. The segment of the project at Strathclyde is overseen by Dr Clemens Kupke from the Mathematically Structured Programming (MSP) Group, whereas the segment at Southampton is led by Dr Corina Cîrstea from the Agents, Interaction, and Complexity Research Group. Another RA in Southampton will complement the overall research team. As an RA at Strathclyde, you will be part of the MSP Group and contribute to its vibrant research atmosphere by engaging in seminars and research gatherings. The group comprises several globally renowned researchers and is directed by Dr Fredrik Nordvall-Forsberg. Our vision is to leverage mathematics and logic to comprehend the essence of computation, and subsequently, translate that comprehension into the next era of programming languages and tools guaranteeing program accuracy.
