WHAT TO EXPECT

This role is based within the Electrical Engineering and Electrical Vehicle (EE & EV) Operations Department at JLR supporting Electrical and Body Engineering through vehicle test and verification working on our Modern Luxury vehicles both current and future.


The role is laboratory based and involves managing the day-to-day operation of the Vehicle Electrical Test Workshop, involving leadership of a team of technicians and engineers, Health & Safety (H&S) of the facility, operation/development of the dyno capability to enable dynamic electrical vehicle testing and liaising with the customer groups on project delivery and the delivery of future technology. You will be a pivotal element of the laboratory development and future expansion supporting the vital and increasing need for effective software and component verification.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Contribute to the delivery of the system or software under development within ETL, to meet the business and customer requirements on time at appropriate quality and cost.
To be a key and integral leader of the expanding EE Laboratory Operations team, supporting the programme/platform test verification delivery in conjunction with the EE/BE Depts
To collaborate with the customer teams and suppliers to develop new ways of testing and supporting the technological development of the JLR vehicles.
To advise the customer teams of good working practices and solutions to their technical validation challenges
Line management of ETL team including training and job allocation
The management, creation and implementation of processes and procedures within ETL
Ensure the laboratories meet the compliance requirements with support from Lead Engineer - EE Operations and the Engineering Laboratories Compliance team.
Ensure high levels of Facility tidiness and cleanliness at all times in line with company process.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED


Working knowledge of Automotive Standards, ideally Electrical/Software related.
Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture and vehicle networks.
NI Veristand, dSpace ControlDesk or Vector Toolkit knowledge
Vehicle Dyno operating principles; previous usage a benefit
Good understanding ISO 14001, ISO45001, and IATF 16949
Full UK Driving Licence.
Ability to work independently and proactively, taking full ownership and responsibility for own work; fully invested in achieving a successful result.
Strong interpersonal/communication skills, including ability to manage/lead/support relationships and communicate effectively at all levels.
Good influencing skills.
Previous experience and background in a test/vehicle facility/workshop accompanied with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
Relevant degree or apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
