Our client, a highly respected Higher Education establishment based in Ayr, require a number of Senior Exam Invigilators to cover the current exam diet on 25th April. Morning shifts are offered between 9.15am and 12.45pm. The rate of pay will be £12.43 per hour.Main Purpose of the Role:
Under the supervision of the University Registry staff responsible for the co-ordination and organisation of the examinations, you will be responsible for the operation of the examinations within a designated room including the supervision of the standard invigilators allocated to the appropriate examination venue.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Ensure the confidentiality of examination matters
- Provide assistance to the senior staff of the University Registry in the organisation and supervision of examinations in the allocated examination venue
- Collect and take examination papers from the Registry to the allocated internal and external venues
- Organise the distribution of examination papers and the appropriate examination ancillary material
- Read out appropriate instructions to students as required by the Registry
- Observe students during the examination ensuring that the examinations are conducted in accordance with the appropriate procedures and examination regulations
- Ensure that the standard invigilators are familiar with the general instructions relating to the duties to which they have been assigned
- Ensure that University procedures/instructions are carried out in the event of a fire alarm or first aid requirement
- Complete the Senior Invigilators Report Form at the end of each examination and Invigilator's attendance sheet
- At the end of the examination ensure that the answer scripts are returned safely and securely to the Registry
- Report any relevant matters e.g. disciplinary to the senior staff of the Registry
- Respond to enquiries from the Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee on any disciplinary offence arising during the invigilation of an examination
- Act as a witness regarding disciplinary matters arising from the examination venue
- Undertake general clerical duties such as checking examination results on letters to students, disseminating letters to appropriate staff for further action, filing and photocopying
- A good general education
- Supervisory experience
- Previous experience of examination invigilation advantageous
- A professional manner with a positive and enthusiastic approach to work
- Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing and the ability to deal with staff and students in a polite and courteous manner
- Ability to deal with unexpected situations in a calm and confident manner
