Peripatetic Piano Teacher

An oversubscribed and exceptional school with an outstanding reputation is looking for a dedicated piano tutor to join its exceptional team of peripatetic teachers. The successful candidate's primary role will involve preparing, planning, and delivering high-quality one-on-one piano lessons to students. Their passion for music education and positive approach will inspire learners of all levels. Additionally, they will provide ongoing assessments and feedback to both students and parents, including annual written reports. Encouraging participation in extra-curricular music activities offered at Hockerill will also be part of their responsibilities. Furthermore, there might be opportunities for the successful candidate to engage in paid accompanying work through the College; skills in this area are desirable..

The Hockerill Music Department fosters a vibrant musical community with a substantial percentage of students actively participating in music lessons. Complementing the formal academic curriculum are 24 weekly extra-curricular clubs, offering students a diverse range of opportunities. The department run a series of events each term which provides a performance platform in varying contexts. There are solo recitals, chamber music events, jazz evenings and larger scale productions in collaboration with other departments across the college, and at external venues alongside many other musical events. The department is committed to providing accessibility for musicians at all skill levels, from beginner through to post grade 8 standard.

Possible teaching hours will be discussed in interview. Candidates who are invited for interview should also be prepared to teach a short taster lesson, demonstrating their teaching skills, rapport with students and lesson structure .
