East Grinstead, West Sussex, United Kingdom Imberhorne School Full time

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, creative and visionary Leading Practitioner to join us in September 2024 (or earlier if possible). The role provides an excellent opportunity for an outstanding teacher of Science to drive significant improvement in teaching. We are looking for a strategic thinker, who will embrace the opportunity to work collaboratively to embed sustainable school improvement in Science. You will have the skills needed to support other colleagues to move forward in their craft, and you will find a staff and student body who readily embrace change for the better.

The position requires someone who can inspire others and help us deliver our vision. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

· The energy, drive and resilience to make a tangible difference as a Leading Practitioner in a large and ambitious school.

· The integrity, moral purpose, presence and emotional intelligence necessary to inspire confidence in staff, students and parents.

Our students have a highly positive attitude towards their learning, enjoy school and feel valued and well cared for. We promote a collaborative learning culture with a strong commitment to the professional development of our staff.

Imberhorne is a thriving 11 – 18 school, on the Surrey/Sussex border. We currently have 1630 students on roll, including 281 in our Sixth Form. We are committed to safeguarding children and all posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

If you are interested in this position and wish to have an informal visit or conversation prior to applying please contact the Head's PA, Angela Nicholls –

Closing date: 9am Monday 29th April

Information for applicants

To apply for the role, please complete an application form and a separate letter of application of no more than 2 sides of A4.

These should be sent by email to Angela Nicholls (PA to the Headteacher) by 9am on the closing date –

Please note that we reserve the right to interview before the deadline if we receive applications from suitably qualified candidates in advance of the closing date.

All recruitment is undertaken in accordance with Safer Recruitment requirements. As part of our due diligence, we can only accept a curriculum vitae (CV) alongside a full application form. In accordance with the latest guidance, we may also conduct on-line searches as part of our recruitment process. The stated aim of this approach is that it may help to identify any incidents or issues that have happened, and are publicly available on-line, and we may want to explore with individual applicants at the interview.

Please note that this post is classified as having substantial access to children, and appointment is subject to an enhanced police check of previous criminal convictions (DBS). Applicants are required, before appointment, to disclose any conviction, caution or binding-over including 'spent convictions' under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975. Non-disclosure may lead to termination of employment. However, disclosure of a criminal background will not necessarily debar individuals from employment – this will depend upon the nature of the offence(s) and when they occurred.
