The School of Creative Arts

The School of Creative Arts traces its distinguished history back to 1852 when the Cheltenham School of Art was established. Today, as one of the four constituent Schools in the University of Gloucestershire, the School currently has over 2300 students and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as Postgraduate Study & PhD's. Our subject area includes, Humanities, Games Technologies, Journalism, Film & TV, Art & Design, Performing Arts, Photography, and Architecture, Construction & Environment

The Opportunity

We are currently looking to appoint a new member of staff in the Game Technologies subject area. This is a dynamic, successful, and expanding community situated at our Park Campus in Cheltenham. It is an exciting time to be joining the team as we are investing heavily in staff and new facilities, in 2024 we began an ambitious program to enlarge our new state of the art Computing Labs

This role will not only require you to teach on a range of games courses, including BSc (Hons) Computer Games Design BSc (Hons) Games Programming, BSc (Hons) Games Art and MSc Game Development starting in the academic year, but support and develop the curriculum and courses we offer to our students.

You must have previous experience of working in a designer capacity on a commercial game product, as well as being able to demonstrate a solid understanding of game design & development tools, techniques, and underpinning principles. You will also have a good knowledge of a range of game design and development pipelines and be able to demonstrate proficiency in areas such as games design, level design, gameplay scripting, narrative design, rapid prototyping for games across different platforms.
