Materials Buyer Vacancy

Salary up to 36,000 per annum, depending upon experience plus competitive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of purchasing functions for goods and raw materials.
  • Negotiate lead times with vendors and swiftly resolve supplier issues.
  • Expedite orders to maintain production schedules, actively participating in shortage meetings.
  • Review material quantities and promptly communicate any issues to management.
  • Support business improvement initiatives through Lean and 5S activities.
  • Strategically plan and execute material purchase orders to meet customer demand and company objectives.
  • Investigate and approve supplier invoice discrepancies.
  • Drive supplier delivery performance through KPI tracking and regular reviews.

Experience Required:

  • CIPS Certification (Or equivalent).
  • Strong background in casting and machining, including subcontract machine shop management.
  • Demonstrated experience in materials management and purchasing within a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Familiarity with scheduling, MRP, MPS, and consignment stocking.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Effective communication skills with all organisational levels and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a small team.

This position is based in Redditch and is easily commutable from Bromsgrove, Studley, Alcester, Droitwich, Alvechurch, Evesham, Birmingham, Solihull, Worcester, Kidderminster and Stourbridge.
