We are looking for a qualified plumber/fitter to join the Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) in the Estates department. Working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, you will be helping to deliver an excellent maintenance service direct to our customers.

In this role, you will:

  • Undertake reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance works on mechanical services and equipment.
  • Act as the emergency response provider for all commercial, domestic gas and Carbon Monoxide (CO) emergencies.
  • Undertake systems fault finding and provide remedial reports.
  • Trace faults on controls systems and associated equipment.
  • Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Act as a competent person for mechanical isolations and de isolations.
  • Assist with managing critical and essential material stock levels.
  • Develop good working relationships with key customers to continually improve our service.

We'd like to hear from you if you:

  • Hold a recognised apprenticeship in City and Guilds/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in plumbing or a mechanical discipline/HVAC.
  • Hold an up-to-date Gas Safe domestic and commercial qualification (training will be funded for this as necessary).
  • Are experienced in working within a reactive maintenance environment.
  • Can work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Can communicate and deliver excellent customer service.

A valid driving license is necessary as it is a condition of employment so that all personnel are able to utilise the fleet of University vehicles to reach all University sites.
