About the role.

To provide a high level and accurate Payroll service to all current Bakkavor internal customers whilst adhering to UK Government tax regulations, HMRC and Bakkavor controls, local procedures, policies and guidelines and within the agreed service levels.

Work collaboratively with the People Services Hub and Third Party Organisations to deliver great customer service aligned to the Bakkavor values.

Support the Payroll Business Partner in ensuring a compliant payroll function, escalating any areas of concern immediately as arise to ensure immediate preventative action taken.

Role Accountabilities
  • Demonstrate a great level of teamwork to respond to all queries, Allemba calls, emails and telephone enquiries to the agreed Tier 1 level of support for the People Services Hub for both external and internal customers, delivering a great customer experience for all enquires.
  • Provide a high standard of service to both external and internal customers, in accordance with company processes and procedures, by undertaking specialist Payroll customer service administration tasks.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of salary payments, pension contributions and reward deductions to all Bakkavor business units and employees
  • Ensure that all HMRC, RTI, financial reconciliation, pension, rewards, recharges, and other administration tasks are completed accurately and within agreed timescales
  • Support within inputting any manual data into the MyHR Payroll, providing clear calculations and audit evidence of requirements. Peer review colleagues work
  • Reconcile the Weekly Payroll Site DID files to MyHR Payroll system reports, providing audit evidence of manual input/changes. Reconcile the Monthly Payroll back to MyHR. Support with the reconciliation of the complete Weekly and Monthly payroll runs
  • Undertake audit checks in line with policies, create BACS in PTX for authorisation and committal
  • Prepare Full Payment Submission data for review, approval, and submission to HMRC, supporting with the correction of errors
  • Administer and process the car salary sacrifice process through the Zenith Portal
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of company cars, SmartFuel reconciliations, expenses, car salary sacrifice and other reward schemes, keeping HMRC abreast of changes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of End of Year, Start of Year, P60s, P11D, tax code uplifts, P9s
  • Administer and process the Salary Finance Loan Applications, deducting payments from both monthly and weekly paid colleagues
  • Undertake National Minimum wage checks to ensure compliance, temporarily adjusting salary sacrifice schemes to net deductions as appropriate, reverting in subsequent payroll periods
  • Work closely with the People Services Hub Absence team to gain accurate data to transact paid or unpaid leave appropriately and in accordance with policy processes and statutory requirements
  • Ensure Finance teams and Group Treasury are supplied with period reports, bank transfers and journals as required in accordance with SLAs
  • Provide details of deductions to Third Party organisations.
  • Develop strong working relationships with other business areas to improve service delivery and processes across People Services Hub
  • Support with internal and external audit Payroll data requests
  • Respond quickly to and provide accurate detailed colleague earnings to Insurance Companies.
About you.
  • Proven experience of providing payroll administrative support
  • Proven knowledge of UK Government tax regulations
  • Previous operational payroll/pension experience
  • Worked extensively with confidential and sensitive information and data
  • A passion for service delivery and customer focused approach
  • A proactive approach, and self-motivated able to work under own initiative
  • A history of self-management, prioritising own workload, and working with tight deadlines
  • An attention to detail, producing high quality and accurate work
  • A proven track record in developing strong working relationships across different disciplines and influencing change
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
It would be desirable to have Payroll/HR experience/qualification (CIPP/CIPD)
