Commercial Officer - Contracts Management
Location: Helensburgh
Work Arrangement: Flexible; 2-3 days on-site, with the remainder remote
Salary: Up to 60,000, depending on experience
The Role:
As the Commercial Officer (Contracts Management), you will play a pivotal role in the end-to-end management of contracts, from initial capture through proposal, contract award, and all stages of contract administration.
In this key position, you will offer strategic business advice while working closely with various departments to oversee a wide array of responsibilities. These include contract solicitation, negotiation, and ensuring adherence to contract terms and obligations. You will ensure that all contractual activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal Delegation of Authority, while securing necessary approvals for proposals and contract actions. Additionally, you will lead and support internal and external audits, ensuring that all contract-related activities are in line with negotiated agreements and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of various commercial/contract models and their application.
- Ensure compliance with Terms and Conditions, identify risks, and implement solutions to emerging issues.
- Independently identify, define, and execute contract revisions and improvements following established procedures.
- Act as a liaison with internal teams, customers, and suppliers, providing guidance on assigned agreements.
- Organize and maintain contract files systematically.
- Ensure all contract actions and closeouts are completed in a timely manner.
- Keep internal and external stakeholders informed of current issues and their mitigation or resolution.
- Ensure the flow down of prime contract commercial requirements to suppliers.
What We're Looking For:
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience as a Commercial Officer or in a similar contracts management role.
- Expertise in managing contracts for major projects, programs, and complex agreements.
- Strong knowledge of commercial/contract models and risk management.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical, report writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at various levels of seniority.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in MOD/Defence contracts management.
- Experience in a business development role, supporting capture management and bids.
Security Clearance:
Due to the nature of the role, UK government security clearance is required. Candidates must hold British or dual nationality to be eligible.
