The BASF Agricultural Specialities Limited production site in Littlehampton, produces industry leading biological pest control products formulated from beneficial nematodes. These products are used by farmers and growers across the globe in agricultural, protected ornamental and home and garden markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As EHS Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain compliance with local EHS legislation and BASF Responsible Care requirements by establishing and maintaining a site Responsible Care Management System covering all EHS disciplines. This includes managing regulatory permits, ensuring legal deadlines are met, preparing for audits, and conducting regular audits in collaboration with EHS counterparts.
  • The EHS Manager specifically oversees the Responsible Care Management System and provides professional advice and practical support on all EHS topics.
  • As a member of the Site Leadership Team, drive EHS performance by effectively communicating performance, sharing learning, promoting Responsible Care principles, identifying and applying best practices, and implementing EHS initiatives. Timely communication and action on any changes to legislation or BASF Responsible Care requirements affecting the site.
  • Promote a Safety Culture of continuous improvement and learning by collaborating with key stakeholders. Establish effective procedures and mechanisms for timely feedback to employees, acknowledging their contributions to the Safety Culture on site.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ideally educated to Bachelor's degree level in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of UK Safety and Environmental legislative requirements, supported by a recognised professional Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH level 6 diploma) and professional accreditation/membership (e.g. IOSH). An Environmental qualification would also be advantageous (e.g. IEMA Foundation certificate).
  • Demonstrable experience of EHS performance management and improvements in a manufacturing environment.
  • A proactive individual with excellent time, work, and people skills. Possessing strong analytical/problem-solving abilities and exceptional interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to motivate and influence teams and individuals that are not direct reports. Comfortable and competent information technology skills.
