The Patient Systems team at BD is expanding and seeks a Developer to join their in-house development team. In this role, you will work on various web projects within the medical field, utilising the .NET framework as part of a small agile team. You will help establish standards to ensure high-quality, understandable code. Your primary focus will be on building secure, robust, and scalable applications that integrate with various NHS systems.
This is a one-year fixed-term position with a remote working model for UK-based candidates, including occasional in-person meetings at our Worthing office. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with an experienced team renowned for its extensive knowledge in the healthcare industry. You will be contributing to a pioneering first-to-market application and engaging in other exciting upcoming projects.

Main responsibilities will include:
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using the .NET framework. Your contributions will be vital in creating applications that enhance patient management and care delivery.
- Review code for accuracy and functionality. Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain code integrity and functionality.
- Collaborate with the team to design software architecture and develop implementation plans that align with project requirements. Your design solutions will support the creation of scalable applications that can handle the demands of a healthcare environment.
- Regularly analyse code segments to identify potential bugs, performance issues, and areas for improvement. Implement best practices for code optimisation, ensuring applications are efficient and responsive.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, design decisions, and development processes. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible, facilitating ongoing maintenance and future development efforts.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in software development, particularly in the healthcare sector. Apply new knowledge to improve existing systems and processes, ensuring BD remains at the forefront of medical technology innovation.
About you:
- Proficiency in .NET Framework (C#).
- Experience with Entity Framework & SQL (SQL Server).
- Familiarity with Web API development.
- Knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, Kendo UI – desirable.
- Experience with NHS FHIR API – desirable.
- Background in working with confidential data or within the healthcare sector is a plus.
