Early Years Foundation Stage Leader and Reception Teacher

Job Description

  • To monitor and evaluate the impact of policies, practices, targets and priorities in the EYFS, identifying developments needed and working with the Primary Phase Leadership Team to achieve them.
  • To be an excellent role model for all staff.
  • To teach pupils across the EYFS, in particular in one Reception class.
  • Through a programme of monitoring and evaluation, to play a major role in the development of high quality teaching and learning in the EYFS.
  • To monitor, evaluate and review pupils' progress, achievement and attainment across the EYFS and ensure that appropriate action plans are in place where issues are identified.
  • To monitor, evaluate and review pupils' progress across school for Early Reading and to Lead the delivery of Little Wandle Reading Practice in Reception, Year 1 and where children require extra support.
  • To closely monitor the progress of phonics in Year 1 and provide training to staff with regards to their own monitoring of progress.
  • To ensure that the requirements of the EYFS, including arrangements for assessment and moderation, are met.
  • To organise the day to day running of the EYFS, including the efficient management of school resources.
  • To support the Primary Phase Leadership Team in the Performance Management of EYFS staff.
  • To work with the Primary Phase Leadership Team to present an accurate and coherent account of performance in the EYFS.
  • To lead professional development in the EYFS, including challenging and supporting members of the EYFS team in developing professionally, both formally and informally.
  • To act as a mentor to EYFS staff where appropriate and organise induction.
  • To challenge underperformance in teaching and learning in the EYFS by promoting a high challenge, high support culture.
  • To lead the EYFS team in the delivery of a creative and stimulating curriculum.
  • To ensure high quality pastoral care for all EYFS pupils.
  • To liaise with colleagues in order to support the successful transition of EYFS pupils from home to Nursery, Nursery to Reception and Reception to Year 1.
  • To develop links with other schools, governors and the wider school community in order to share and enhance good practice.
