Bank Healthcare Support worker - Band 3 Theatre/Endoscopy

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Worker to join our Theatre/Endoscopy team at the Lorn and Islands Hospital Oban. The department cares for elective and emergency surgical and endoscopy patients.

The Theatre/Endoscopy department is operational Monday to Friday for people attending for both general surgery and endoscopy procedures. In addition, there is an out of hours on call service for emergencies.

The successful applicant will work in all areas - Peri-operative, Anaesthetics, Reception, Recovery and Endoscopy, and may be part of the on call team.

This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain new skills and experience in elective, emergency and surgical/endoscopic procedures.

Candidates should have the ability to work well under pressure, willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the 24/7 service while supporting the team to provide safe and effective care to patients with varying levels of complexity.
Previous HCSW experience is desirable, but applicants with no experience will be considered as training will be provided. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate they are an effective team member, with excellent communication and IT skills.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
