What role you will play in our team

We are currently seeking qualified, experienced Instrument Technicians to join our team at ExxonMobil's Fawley Refinery. The largest refinery in the UK, Fawley is a combined refining, lubricants and chemicals manufacturing site.

What you will do
  • A good level of computer literacy with an aptitude to learn new systems.
  • Ability to interpret and work from vendor manuals, drawing and P&IDs.
  • Fault finding, repair and preventative maintenance of a broad variety of instrumentation
  • An ability to write, review and follow detailed procedures.
  • Work experience on electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
About you
  • A good general education to at least GCSE level. 5 GCSEs should be of grades A-C and must include English, Maths and Science.
  • Instrument apprenticeship or Instrument related qualification
  • Prior experience working as Instrument Technician within the Petrochemical industry preferable
  • Commitment to high standards in safety and quality of work
  • Driven, motivated & committed to ownership and completing tasks
  • The ability to communicate well verbally and via IT-based systems
  • Active participation in meetings and able to offer technical solutions to problems while prioritising work
  • Able to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment while making decisions focused on safety, reliability & performance of the business.
  • A flexible attitude to the job and the ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities

Maintenance experience on at least some of the following

  • distributed control systems
  • good knowledge of process measuring instrumentation (temp, pressure, level, flow)
  • pneumatic and electronic d.p. cells / controllers / switches
  • pneumatic and electronic relay logic
  • pneumatic and electronic valve positioners
  • hydraulic control systems
  • following online and offline test procedures
