This continues to be an exciting time within North Yorkshire Council Educational Psychology service - we are embarking on an episode of considerable change. As of April 2023, we moved to a single new council for North Yorkshire to replace the current two-tier structure of local government. Presently, within the Council we are a small Educational Psychology team, however we are expanding, and we would like innovative, and solution-orientated psychologists to join us

We are in the process of expanding and developing our offer in support of our commitment to Inclusion and the rights of children to be positively included in their communities. We are always interested in hearing from talented individuals within this field. The post holder will be committed to the use of inclusive, evidenced-based applications of psychological approaches that promote positive outcomes for young people and reduce barriers to learning. The post holder will have a detailed understanding of the needs of young people who have experienced aspects linked to relational attachment or developmental trauma. They will be committed to the use of relational based approaches to supporting children, such as Emotion Coaching, Trauma-informed, solution orientated.

North Yorkshire Local Educational Authority are looking for a committed and enthusiastic, Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist to join the Inclusion Team and work directly with NYC Virtual School as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The Virtual school works with colleagues to support the education and wellbeing of looked after young people, those young people who are in care - previously looked after children, PLAC, Children in Need, CIN and young people who have a Child Protection, CP plan. There will be collaboration with the Virtual School and nationally recognised ARC, as a vital part of the role.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work at different levels, working systemically with families and settings, being involved with training, engaging with groups and individuals to drive forward the authority Attachment Aware Trauma Informed schools project. This will include development of current networks to support ongoing development and sharing of best practice.

The successful applicant will:

· Develop and deliver training to settings

· Develop and deliver training for Virtual School personnel

· Coach others in psychological approaches linked to the latest research in trauma responsive practice

· Conduct action research and have the ability to carry out research for the Virtual School in accordance with their strategic objectives

· Provide regular psychological case situation supervision to the Virtual School

· Undertake multi-agency consultation work for schools

· Make use of complex problem-solving approaches such as Circle of Adults.

· Contribute to the SEMH strategic group and regional and National conferences as required by the Virtual Schools head teacher

· Work closely with partners such as social work teams, Psychologically Informed Partnership Approach, PIPA psychologists with some joint working / training to support foster carers.

· Offer support as required by the Virtual Schools head teacher as an integral part of the role

This post may involve a limited amount of selected statutory work or oversight of statutory work for the Virtual School head teacher. Psychological supervision will be available for the post holder from the Educational Psychology service.

Applications are welcomed from candidates who have a masters or doctorate level qualification in Educational Psychology and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, HCPC. You should be creative and forward thinking with the knowledge, skills, enthusiasm, and willingness to use psychological frameworks to facilitate positive change.
