About the role:

Activate Learning have an exciting opportunity for an Animal Management Lecturer to join our HE teaching team at Merrist Wood College and University Centre in Worplesdon.

You will be responsible for delivering teaching including lectures, workshops, seminars and practical sessions to students studying on our suite of degrees in animal, behaviour, wildlife and conservation, and Access to HE programmes.

Merrist Wood College has a national and international reputation amongst employers and industry specialists and a long history of providing unrivalled education in the land-based sectors. We have a strong focus on developing and embedding practical skills within our curriculum that contribute to conservation work and local community projects, as well as supporting their academic studies.

You will join a supportive and well-established teaching team and will get to work within a state-of-the-art £4million animal management centre that is home to a wide range of species, on a beautiful 400-acre campus. We have a licenced zoo, with Arid, Tropical and Nocturnal biomes and a fully functioning farm.

What do you need to be a successful Animal Management teacher at Activate Learning?

We are looking for people who can act as role models for our students and ensure that they leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the attributes required to progress in the world of work.

You'll need to have a Bachelor's Degree in an animal related discipline such as Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Biology or a related field. We're particularly interested to hear from individuals who have an interest in companion animals although that is not essential.

It is desirable if you have a teaching qualification and worked within education as a teacher, but this is not essential. Your passion for the subject is more important. As long as you have the qualifications or experience to teach on our Animal Management courses and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE/HE sector.
