About us

Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. There has been a school on our site since 1913, with the first 105 years as a girls' school. In response to local demand we admitted our first mixed cohort in 2018 and are now fully co-educational.

Ours is a vibrant, diverse and inclusive school with over 60 languages spoken across our community. We have a clear vision founded on excellence and justice, with the ambition to offer a world-class education to the young people and families of Greenwich. Our curriculum offers a range of pathways, blending the mastery of knowledge with the development of transferable skills and see our young people progress onto a full range of future pathways including medicine and veterinary science, courses at the most competitive universities as well as high-quality apprenticeships.

About the Department

Our Science Department, led by our Director of Science, is a vibrant and energetic team of specialists, who offer a range of qualifications across academic and, where appropriate, vocational pathways. This includes Double and Triple Science at GCSE, alongside A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics supplemented by a successful and rigorously taught Level 3 BTEC Applied Science. At KS3, students follow our new curriculum that develops curiosity about the way the world works and seeks to uncover the inner beauty that Science has to reveal. We seek to promote a lifelong love of learning and our broad and balanced curriculum means we provide a platform for our students to compete for the most competitive courses at university and most sought-after jobs. Many of our Post 16 students go on to study Science at a higher level, in areas including medicine, pharmacology and engineering.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach science across KS3 & KS4 and either Biology or Chemistry at KS5.

This role is suitable for either an ECT or an experienced teacher. We welcome and support ECTs with an excellent ECT programme, tailored to individual needs, where you will be supported by a mentor. Support and training is continued after the first year of teaching.
