Distillery Warehouse Operator

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF ROLE:

To ensure warehousing targets are met for quality and delivery, in line with customer requirements and overall business goals, whilst adhering to all company policies.

Provide cover for the operation of distillery Pot Ale Evaporator, Biological Effluent Treatment Plant and associated processes, ensuring that distillery production is not interrupted.

Follow standard operating procedures, standing instructions and ways of working, whilst complying with all statutory, regulatory and company requirements in accordance with Beam Suntory UK Ltd Loss Control principles e.g. safety, quality, environment, HMR&C compliance etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow standard safe operating procedures, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of warehousing, bar-coding and associated processes.
• Study weekly warehouse schedules to ensure stock and resources are available to meet warehouse operations plan and contribute towards effective management of warehouse space to increase warehouse utilisation towards achieving target.
• Manage stocks of new make spirit to meet customer filling programs and work with process operators to manage volumes in ISR and SRWV vats, to ensure space for production
• Maintain cask stock control system (DRAMS), including use of hand held bar-code scanners and bar-code PC.
• Support operation of pot ale evaporation plant, incl. weekly/shutdown cleaning duties.
• Support operation of biological effluent treatment plant, including stock management of associated materials and chemicals.
• Management of internal and external customers, suppliers and logistics.
• Contribute to a safe working environment through hazard spotting, near miss reporting, behavioural safety auditing and participation in site loss control meetings.
• Contribute to One Beam Suntory Way Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement processes e.g. reporting non-conformances at daily site operational review meetings, participation in daily warehousing planning meeting, generation of performance improvement ideas across areas such as Process, Health & Safety, Environment, Quality etc.
• Assist distillery teams as required.

• Driving Licence is essential.
• Fork Lift Truck license would be a benefit.
• Previous experience of working within a distillery or warehousing environment would be a benefit.
• Successful candidate should be prepared to learn other roles within the distillery e.g. mashing, distilling etc.
• Ability to self-motivate and make autonomous, informed decisions is essential.
