As a Barclays Developer, you will be accountable for the design, development, and implementation of Technology Platforms to a very high level of quality and standards. In this role will also be a key contributor for Technical Design and Development for new and existing systems within the portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for a process-oriented Individual with an understanding of Security concepts in a Digital world.

What will you be doing?

• Undertaking the development of APIs and Microservices ready for deployment to the Cloud

• Supporting release activities, ensuring that deliverables safely reach production to deliver the highest levels of client experience

• Testing and evaluating new programs

• Determining operational practicality

• Deploying software tools, processes and metrics

• Working closely with other developers, designers, business and systems analysts

• Suggesting and implementing enhancements on existing application code base for continuous improvement

• Providing L3 support for Production Environment

What we're looking for:

• Comprehensive understanding of API and Microservice design patterns backed up by experience delivering and running the services you have built in production

• Experience building event-driven services using Kafka or similar technologies

• Excellent fundamentals in Object Oriented Programming and Problem Solving skills

• Working knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and software quality metrics

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Exposure to DDD and frameworks used to deliver domain-driven applications and hypermedia APIs

• Public/Private Cloud experience (OpenShift preferred)

• Familiarity with complex system integration and a wide, conceptual understanding of Cloud technologies, REST APIs and microservice-based architectures

• Familiarity with Reactive programming and the Kafka Streams API

Where will you be working?

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
