Asset Allocation Analyst

Department: Asset Allocation

Contract Type: 12 month Fixed Term

The Role

To help provide timely economic and "top-down" investment analysis to Rathbones' Asset Allocation Committee and Investment Managers.

Outcomes of the Role
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of macroeconomic and market data.
  • Support investment managers by responding to their queries and presenting at firm-wide or cloud/regional research meetings.
  • Assist in the production of internal research notes and external pieces of thought leadership, as well as their communication to investment managers.
  • Assist in the preparation of committee meeting papers and contribute towards the communication of committee decisions. Advise Strategic Asset Allocation Committee and Sector Selection Committee of risks and opportunities in the construction of investment strategies.
  • Build presentations on asset allocation strategy and contribute to their content. Coordinate and update content covering asset allocation and strategy for use within marketing collateral.
  • Support the delivery of the overall investment process collaborating with the wider research team and presenting at the monthly research team meetings.
    Knowledge, Skills and Experience
    • A solid grasp of the macroeconomic literature is required, as is a familiarity with basic econometric techniques (eg. OLS regression), but an ability to explain mathematical proofs is not required.
    • Knowledge of regulatory environment in which we operate.
    • Understanding of the products and services Rathbones provides.
    • Communication - the ability to articulate complex economic or market concepts in an accessible and intuitive manner. Strong ability to present information visually in charts and figures.
    • Organisation of self and others - proactive and accountable, demonstrates ability to manage team resources, taking primary responsibility for client administration in line with business needs.
    • Experience working in an investment-related role in Financial Services on either the sell- or buy-side. (working in an economics or investment strategy team is not required)
    • A bachelors (minimum 2.1) or masters (minimum Merit grade) degree in Economics, Political Economy, Economic History, or a closely-related discipline.
