The project:

Mace consult central government team to lead key projects across our Houses of Parliament account. We have an exciting pipeline of work, and the successful candidate will be responsible for delivery at all project stages, ensuring relevant stakeholders and professional team members are engaged throughout. The central government sector is responsible for developing our business across parliament's vast estate, which includes the Palace of Westminster, Parliamentary Northern Estate and ancillary built assets. The purpose of the role is to support project managers in the delivery of projects by providing high-level planning service for the preparation of project plans, producing baseline scheduled tasks, resource profiles and financial models. The successful candidate will be involved in improving the consistency, predictability and efficiency of the programme/project delivery capability and provide leadership in best practices that are highly customer-focused - outward and upward and that are consistent with customer expectations.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Directing application of specific planning/scheduling methods, techniques and tools.
  • Providing good working knowledge of planning/scheduling, EVM, project controls and QSRA methodologies.
  • Supporting complex requirements.
  • Being able to manage planning/scheduling delivery of medium/high complexity projects/programmes.
  • Being able to provide effective and timely advice to clients.
  • Understanding data management.
  • Influencing clients and other stakeholders to accept proposals and recommendations.
  • Creating and delivering persuasive presentations to large audiences.

You'll need to have:

  • Exposure working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large-scale construction projects ideally for a tier 1 contractor or a client-side consultancy.
  • A construction-related degree (civil/structural engineering, or construction/project management or equivalent).
  • Experience working on large projects/programmes.
  • A construction or project management background.
  • Working on a large portfolio of projects.
  • Mentoring and upskilling of inexperienced planners.
  • Implementation of planning principles within the project management community.
  • Working with large range of stakeholders.
  • Planning of complicated infrastructure projects and summarisation of these into portfolio-level schedules.
  • Experienced P6 user (P6 pro).
  • Familiarisation with P6 EPPM (Web) - for configuration management - see below.
  • Management of large data sets into simple reporting formats, through coding and layout manipulation.
  • Knowledge of baseline control and configuration.
  • Experience in scheduling import and export.

You'll also have:

  • NEC
  • Construction - living accommodation, offices, workshops, sports facilities, and associated infrastructure.
  • Familiarisation with other planning software i.e. Microsoft Project, Asta Power Project.
  • Schedule risk analysis (QSRA).
  • P6 configuration management - user access, OBS creation and management, user profiles, OBS assignation.
  • Set up and use of resources - future projects not yet required.
  • Use of P6 for EVM - future project not yet required.
