About The Role
Practice Plus Group Hospital Shepton Mallet are recruiting to a new Junior Surgical Fellow post.

This post is a theatre based role in our hospital where we have 4 operating theatres which undertake a range of orthopaedic arthroplasty and other upper and lower limb procedures, general surgery, ENT, Gynaecology and Urology procedures.

We are a high volume low complexity surgical hub which treats a mixture of NHS and private patients.

We undertake approximately 2000 arthroplasty procedures per year including day case arthroplasty and a total of 6800 elective procedures per year.

What you'll be doing
The post-holder would work as a surgical assistant.

There would be no on-call or weekend requirement in this post and the post-holder would work 40hrs per week over 4 days with shifts typically 7.30am-5.30pm.

There are opportunities for audit, quality improvement activities and research and professional development or to support an individual who is already participating in research or a higher degree.

What we'll look for in you

This post would suit and individual who wishes to develop and improve on their basic surgical skills and ability to understand the principles and practice of surgical intervention in different specialties.

The post-holder would be an individual who is anticipating applying to higher surgical training schemes in the future and wishes to gain additional exposure to the theatre environment and familiarity with surgical procedures in the UK.
