We are looking for a passionate and motivated Social Worker to join our Mental Health Team. This is a small, well-established, dedicated social care team for people with severe and enduring mental health conditions.
The mental health social work team provides specialist services for adults aged over 18. The team supports people to recover from periods of difficulty with their mental health and for people to stay as independent as possible by providing support that is person-centred and strength-based which gives people choice and control in their lives.
As a Mental Health Social Worker, you will also be involved in assessing, coordinating, and arranging care for service users with mental health problems, both in the community and in hospital.
You would be joining Solihull at an exciting time as the Council changes the way in which it delivers its services, and we work in a more agile way. As a Social Worker in Solihull, you will benefit from manageable caseloads and an inclusive and supportive team culture with great scope for professional development.
We also offer comprehensive training with opportunities to study to be an Approved Mental Health Practitioner, Best Interest Assessor or a Practice Educator which provides a positive base for supervision skills and helps you to deliver training. There is also the 12-month Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) for newly qualified social workers.
Social Work England registration fees are paid for people who have completed their Social Work qualification.

We are looking for people who have:
A professional Social Work qualification and be Social Work England registered or be in the final academic year of a professional Social Work qualification with pending Social Work England registration.Experience of working in a health or social care setting. Knowledge of, safeguarding principles and relevant legislation.Highly effective communication skills Able to demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for integrated working and an understanding of how we can best engage with our local communities and other partners in a meaningful way. We have close partnerships across agencies in the borough and are a small and friendly local authority with good relationships across adult care and support. We welcome applications from newly qualified Social Workers as well as experienced Social Workers looking for a change in career or wishing to develop their skills and experience. You will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and abilities across a broad range of social work activity, such as assessment and care planning and safeguarding.
