Full time starting salary is normally in the range £45,585 to £54,395, with potential progression once in post to £61,198.

Job Summary
This is an exciting new project that aims to evaluate Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews within the NHS in England for autistic children and adults and children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
The successful applicant will join a team comprised of researchers and clinicians at the University of Birmingham, the University of Kent, and the University of East Anglia.
The project is being delivered in collaboration with the National Autistic Society, Learning Disability England, and the Challenging Behaviour Foundation.
Person Specification
- An undergraduate degree in psychology or a related discipline and a higher degree in psychology or a related discipline (normally PhD) or equivalent qualifications
- Extensive research experience and scholarship involving people with developmental disabilities
- Experience and achievement reflected in a growing reputation
- Extensive experience and demonstrated success in planning, undertaking and project managing research to deliver high quality results
- Extensive experience of applying and/or developing and devising successful models, techniques and methods
- Extensive experience and achievement in knowledge transfer, enterprise and similar activity
- Experience of championing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in own work area
- Ability to monitor and evaluate the extent to which equality and diversity legislation, policies, procedures are applied
- Ability to identify issues with the potential to impact on protected groups and take appropriate action
- Experience of leading funded research grants
- Experience of supervising junior research staff
- Experience of working with autistic children and adults and children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their carers
- Expertise in qualitative research methodologies and experience with quantitative research methodologies
- Knowledge and experience of the research provisions within the Mental Capacity Act, 2005. Experience of working with individuals judged to lack capacity to make decisions about whether they wish to take part in research
- The postholder will have to work with individuals who are children and adults with developmental disabilities who have been detained or are currently detained under the Mental Health Act, 1983
- The postholder may be exposed to behaviours that challenge and work with children and adults who have developmental disabilities and mental health problems
