MAIN PURPOSE
Join our client's multidisciplinary team to provide speech and language therapy for clients with acquired brain injury. Collaborate with internal and external professionals, social networks, and People We Support.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply neurobehavioural approach to brain injury, using current research and best practices.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload with complex mental/physical health needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop rehabilitation goals, care plans, and therapy programmes.
  • Engage People We Support in assessments and planning, ensuring informed consent.
  • Share information with family, carers, and stakeholders, respecting confidentiality.
  • Perform swallowing assessments and provide care plans, referrals, and staff training on dysphagia management.
  • Adhere to risk management and safeguarding protocols, improving health and safety.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory, reporting needs to the service manager.
  • Keep HCPC registration up to date with a professional portfolio.

Requirements
We are looking for someone with the following skills and qualities:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Achieved Dysphagia Competencies.
  • Experience in hospital or residential settings.
  • Specialist knowledge of SaLT models and interventions in ABI (e.g., social communication, cognitive communication, communication partner training).
  • Knowledge and experience of speech and language therapy outcome measures.
  • Minimum 4 years of qualified experience encompassing complex case management.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with adults with neurological conditions or 4+ years post-registration experience in an alternative clinical setting.
