The purpose of our Service is to provide quality, affordable, healthy, and sustainable homes that meet the present and future needs of all our tenants.
The Housing Standards team is made up of five closely linked areas of housing expertise i.e., construction, repairs, improvements, contract management, and safety. Each team consists of suitably qualified, skilled, and experienced trade operatives, surveyors, or contract supervisors.
As a member of the Housing Safety Team, you will contribute to the overall success of the Housing Standards Team through a combination of reactive and planned surveys/risk assessments. Those surveys/risk assessments will inform the Housing Improvement, De-carbonisation and compliance programs of work.
The team are responsible for ensuring the council's housing assets are maintained to meet all current statutory, regularity and legislative standards.
You will conduct surveys and produces schedules of work for complex responsive repairs and mutual exchanges, complete comprehensive stock condition surveys, provide technical specifications for a range of routine planned works programmes and independence adaptations. You will also complete surveys using the housing health and safety rating system both proactively and in response to disrepair claims / tenant complaints and complete comprehensive Retrofit surveys to inform the housing decarbonisation strategy, ensuring all remedial works are completed to a satisfactory standard and all recommendations are followed through by the site responsible person.

You will have knowledge of current best practices in social housing relating to tenant safety and decent home standards. Experience in delivering quality housing inspection reports and survey information along with excellent customer service skills.
You will have an understanding of statutory and regulatory requirement relating to housing and the built environment, understanding of building control and planning legislation, experienced in performance management, and experienced in accurately specifying routine works in domestic properties, across all trade disciplines.
Excellent communication skills are a must, both written and oral with the ability to problem solve and find pragmatic solutions.
