Middlesex University seeks to appoint an outstanding academic leader as their PVC for Global Research & Knowledge Exchange. Middlesex University is a global university committed to meeting the needs and ambitions of a culturally and internationally diverse range of students, by providing challenging academic programmes underpinned by innovative research, grants and professional practice. With campuses in London, Dubai and Mauritius, Middlesex University prepares its students to be professional, skilled individuals fit for the modern world, committed to life-long learning, and able to contribute to the communities in which they live and work. A new campus dedicated to arts and creative industries is being established in Hainan, China, with Minzu University of China. The University aims to harness its research and knowledge exchange activities to contribute to improving the education it provides for its students globally.

The new PVC will be responsible for leading and developing the University's research and will steer impact and knowledge exchange locally and internationally. They will ensure the University's reputation for outstanding applied research is maintained. The appointee will develop and cultivate relationships with industry, government, civil society, and other key external stakeholders for the benefit of the institution and its students. Internally, they will work closely with senior staff from each of the four faculties, primarily in leading and coordinating the University's REF 2029 submission. The new PVC will line-manage the directors of two overseas campuses, amongst others, and will seek out opportunities for the campuses to learn from each other. Reporting directly into the Vice Chancellor, the new PVC will be a critical member of the University's executive team.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced academic leader with a strong personal research profile and a track-record of managing people and resources in an HE environment. They will be able to point to significant achievements of relevance to this research and knowledge exchange portfolio. They will be a commercially minded, strategic leader with an impressive track record of effecting positive change. They will be excellent at establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships on a local and international scale. They will also be skilled at cultivating and fostering an inclusive and enabling research and knowledge exchange environment, optimising research quality and grant income.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a mark in UK Higher Education. Candidates will be attracted to the prospect of contributing to the next ambitious phase of Middlesex University's development.
