NRL are currently recruiting for an experienced 1st Assistant within the vessel and construction operations management (VECOP) department, to be employed on board a construction vessel worldwide.

Requirements within the role:
  • Coordinate work & manpower on board for the assigned shift in compliance with Project specification, in order to ensure efficient performance and respecting HSE and Quality procedures and practices
  • Assist the Offshore Construction Manager regarding interdisciplinary coordination of all works on board
  • Supervise the team of foremen and supervisors, regarding the various disciplines/categories of construction and assembly work, in order to comply with the quality and safety standard
  • Coordinate the construction activities during the shift and optimise all production phases
  • Ensure that the Offshore Construction Manager is kept fully informed of potential problems and construction status
  • Liaise with Chief Mate, 2nd Engineer and Vessel Equipment Engineer to ensure preventive maintenance and construction activities
  • Liaise with subcontractors' supervisors to optimize production
  • Solve matters related to coordination, priority and interface between the different disciplines to meet the scopes of the project
  • Ensure that the Permit-to-Work system for construction crew is adhered to and ensures that the daily Toolbox Talks and JSA, if required, are carried out according to the procedures
  • Motivate all construction crew/subcontractors with regards to health, safety and environment awareness
  • Ensure the compliance with the standards dictated by QHSE policies and safety procedures, in order to perform the activities in a safe manner
  • Report incidents and near-miss events
  • Manage the Crane operations, including coordination with the Chief Mate for main crane movements on board, ROV launching and underwater operations
  • Assist marine operations if required
  • Provide a construction report at the end of each shift
  • Assist the Vessel Field Engineer in the follow up of project equipment and consumable, operation and monitoring of the stinger and JLT
  • Ensure the rigging gear used is within date and properly marked
You will need:
  • Preferably a technical High School Diploma or civil, mechanical, electrical or naval engineering background
  • Fluent in English
  • 6 or 7 years of prior experience in the oil & gas business
  • 4 year of experience in the role of 1st assistant or similar Supervisor Role
  • Preferred engineering background
