Position Summary:

Bechtel are currently looking for a number of senior planners in various UK locations to support ongoing projects within the civil nuclear and defence sectors. Ideal candidates will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of planning and schedule management in support of program capture and execution. Interfaces with program management, senior management and the contractual customer as the programs planning integrator. Manages vertical and horizontal integration between all schedules and other program artefacts to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties. Works with the performing organizations to coordinate work sequences with the total project plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Ascertains that the correct scope of work and the project execution plan are reflected on all schedules.
  • Collate & validate project progress and lead program meetings whether internally or presenting to Clients.
  • Determines critical-path activities for assigned discipline or specialties, and identifies significant activities supporting interdisciplinary requirements. Identifies critical path for discipline or specialty work activities.
  • Devises modelling and measuring techniques to integrate risks and opportunities with schedule and cost baseline. Performs time-phased predictive analyses, critical path verification and schedule risk assessments to assure the capability of the program to meet their commitments.
  • Resolves schedule conflicts, develops and implements work-around strategies and tactical alternatives.
  • Utilizes performance and health metrics analyses to drive actions resulting in improved program performance.
  • Analyzes quantity and cost information and predicts changes and trends. Coordinates quantification and estimates for trends and scope changes and provides feedback to estimating regarding cost trends and lessons learned. Provides plans and recommendations to mitigate the impact of potential trends.
  • Set up and manage auditable trails of programs.
  • Maintenance and status updates of the integrated schedule on a weekly & monthly basis. Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports.
  • Maintenance of the Performance Measurement Baseline.
  • May provide leadership, direction and day to day management of other program planners if applicable.
  • Interfaces with other members of the project team and provides miscellaneous support to Project Controls Manager as requested.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and extensive experience of professional experience in Project Controls with an emphasis on planning and scheduling.
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.
  • Proven understanding of the full project cycle and any relative constraints.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication. Presentation skills.

Desirable:

  • Strategic and "big picture" thinker.
  • Proficiency in using PC operating systems and several basic software applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in using multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used by Bechtel (e.g. Primavera, and Microsoft Project).
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialised instruction or practical experience.
  • Understanding and experience of working in PMOs.
  • Knowledge of NEC3/4 Contract administration. #LI-AF1
