Corby, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom Corby Business Academy Full time

Organisation: Brooke Weston Trust

Location: Various locations across the Trust

Commitment: Part-time, voluntary position

Term: 4 years (with the possibility of reappointment)

About the Role

The role of a governor can be very rewarding – it allows great opportunities to:

· contribute and develop your personal and professional skills;

· to work as part of a team and network with other likeminded people; and

· to achieve the wider satisfaction that comes with the ability to shape and improve the

future of young people.

If you are passionate about helping your local community and want to make a real and positive impact on education, we would like to hear from you.

We are currently looking to appoint a Governor in readiness for the new academic year in September. Ideally, we require someone who is currently working within a school setting and is part of the Senior Leadership team.

Whilst it is not essential as training for the role will be provided, it may be beneficial if you have experience in an educational or social care environment or a background in industry.

We recognise the value diversity can bring to a working group, so welcome and encourage applications from people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

As a Governor on a Local Governing Board (LGB) in the Brooke Weston Trust, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students. Governors work collaboratively with school leaders and other board members to provide strategic oversight, ensure accountability, and support the school's vision and ethos.

Key Responsibilities

· Strategic Oversight: Help set the vision and direction of the school.

· Accountability: Monitor and evaluate the school's performance, ensuring it meets its

educational objectives.

· Support and Challenge: Provide support to the school leadership while

constructively challenging them to achieve excellence.

· Community Engagement: Foster strong links between the school and the wider

community, ensuring the school reflects and serves the needs of its stakeholders.

· Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, promoting a culture

of safeguarding across the school.

We Are Looking for People With

· A desire to contribute to local education and the surrounding community

· An interest in education for young people and a passion to make a difference

· A willingness to listen, to look at issues objectively and to make informed judgements

· The ability to work as part of a team

· Time to commit to a minimum of 3 full governors' meetings per year and participate

in link visits to the school (in total approximately 15 hours per year).
