As our SENDCo you will work hand in hand with our newly appointed ARP lead to develop innovative strategies that ensure every child receives the tailored support they deserve.

This role would suit a candidate who is deeply passionate about special educational needs (SEN) and is eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs. Main Responsibilities:

Identifying and Assessing Needs: Identifying students with special educational needs, and overseeing the implementation of appropriate support plans.

Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborating with teachers, parents and external agencies to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with SEND.

Training and Support: Providing training and support to teachers and staff on best practices for supporting students with SEND in the classroom.

Monitoring Progress: Monitoring the progress of students with SEND and making adjustments to support plans as needed to ensure continuous improvement.

Maintaining Records: Maintaining accurate records of students with SEND, including assessment reports, support plans and progress reports.

Advocacy: Acting as an advocate for students with SEND, ensuring that their needs are understood and met within the school environment.

Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and practices related to SEND, in line with national guidelines and legislation.

Liaison with External Agencies: Liaising with external agencies, such as educational psychologists, specialist teachers and health professionals, to access additional support and resources for students with SEND.

Inclusion: Promoting a culture of inclusion within the school community, where every student is valued and supported to achieve their full potential.

Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of current research and best practices in the field of special education.

Requirements:

Qualified teacher status (QTS) with experience of working with pupils with SEN. SENDCo qualification or willingness to undertake qualification.Experience using leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external partners.Understanding of different approaches and strategies for supporting pupils with SEN.Commitment to inclusion and diversity, with a passion for making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).Demonstrate an understanding of the SEN Code of Practice.
