Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, United Kingdom Westbourne School Full time

Head of Whole School PE / Teacher of Whole School PE

Salary: TBC

Westbourne is an independent, all through school in Penarth, renowned for its tradition of academic excellence, with a rich history dating back to 1896. Our commitment to achieving the highest standards of education has consistently placed us at the top of league tables, and in the most recent ESTYN inspection in 2018, we were rated 'Excellent' in all categories.

We are located in the picturesque seaside suburb of Penarth, just 15 minutes from the centre of Cardiff and included in the Times' List of best places to live by the sea in 2023.

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, highly professional, and dedicated teacher of Physical Education to join our successful team. This is a remarkable opportunity for the right candidate to make a significant impact and play a leading role in an incredibly important area of the school's curriculum.

The successful candidate will deliver PE lessons from KS1 to GCSE, and Games lessons from Y3 to Y13. There will be an expectation to coach and lead teams in the school's focus sports as part of our Games and Extra-Curricular programme, which includes some Saturday fixtures. There may also be the opportunity for the right candidate to deliver GCSE PE lessons. This post would be equally suitable for an Early Career or experienced teacher.

All pupils at Westbourne are encouraged to participate in sporting activities. Each pupil from Reception to Year 11 enjoys one timetabled PE lesson a week and is encouraged to engage fully in the many sporting clubs that are offered.

We are in the process of expanding the number and range of competitive sporting fixtures in our calendar, and are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who are willing to play a lead role in growing this part of our sporting provision.

Role Details:

Subjects: You will teach PE to KS1, KS2, KS3 AND GCSE

CPD Support: We are dedicated to the professional development of our teachers and will provide significant and supportive CPD opportunities to enhance your teaching skills.

Results-Driven: Westbourne Penarth is known for its results-driven approach, and we consistently achieve top rankings in league tables. Join a school with a strong tradition of academic excellence and a commitment to achieving the very highest of goals.

Single accommodation including utilities and meals during term time may be available in return for boarding duties, however living in residence is not a requirement of the role.

How to Apply:

If you are passionate about teaching and believe you have the qualifications and dedication we are looking for, we encourage you to apply. Please submit an application form and a letter of application by the application deadline of 8 April. CVs may also be submitted, but not in place of a completed application form.

The Interim Director, Mr Ed Swanwick, will be happy to answer any questions and he can be contacted at the School.

Early applications are encouraged and we reserve the right to interview and make an appointment before the advertised deadline.

Join our motivated and engaged peer group in fulfilling our inspiring vision for the future. Your contribution will be valued, and your career will flourish in our dynamic educational environment.

Safeguarding Statement

Westbourne Schools is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
