Are you a graduate in land or environmental management, agriculture, forestry, nature conservation or other relevant topics?

Do you want to help to make an impact on the restoration and appreciation of Argyll's unique habitats?

Argyll and The Isles Coast & Countryside Trust (ACT) are offering a trainee position for a graduate to kick-start their career in habitat management and restoration. The role provides hands-on experience in project management, peatland restoration design, ecological monitoring, and community engagement. Initially assisting project staff, the successful candidate will gradually work more independently as their skills grow. Job activities will include:

  • Assisting in developing peatland restoration projects, including liaising with landowners, designing plans, and costing work programs.
  • Participate in site visits and conduct bird and habitat surveys.
  • Analyse data with GIS software and compile reports.
  • Engage with the public and organise events

The role is both desk-based and involves outdoor site visits. It is based on the Isle of Islay with some travel to mainland Argyll, and remote working may be considered.
