Job Description SummaryGE Renewable Energy would like to recruit a Senior Design and Technology Manager to work in our Grid Solutions business from our Stafford office. The role will involve contributing and providing direction to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical solutions and improvement (electrical, mechanical and controls) of existing products and components (such as power transformers - HVDC and AC, reactors, phase shifters).Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups, and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects, discussions with customers and suppliers, with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Product Definition. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering / Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a diploma with relevant experience).

  • HVDC transformer knowledge - electrical and/or mechanical design experience, including 3D and 2D skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
