Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

The Principal, Capital Policy and Planning position plays a crucial role in overseeing EBRD's capital and liquidity planning, capital adequacy, and related financial policies. This role involves providing specialized recommendations based on independent analysis and a thorough understanding of the bank's strategic context. The incumbent also supports the Director, Capital and Liquidity Planning in presenting proposals to senior management and the Board.

The team handles various responsibilities at senior levels within the organization and with other international financial institutions.

Responsibilities:

The Principal, Capital Policy and Planning leads interactions at the senior management level and engages with multiple stakeholders to support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities include staying updated on industry methodologies related to risk and capital issues, maintaining expertise in regulatory capital, banking regulation, and best practices, and developing and implementing areas of work in the team.

  • Capital adequacy metrics
    • Development and review of the Banks capital adequacy metrics
    • Preparation of ICAAP document summarizing the Banks capital planning framework
  • Stress testing
    • Management of the Banks capital stress testing model
    • Technical advice on stress impacts on capital ratios
  • Credit rating agency models
    • Data returns to rating agencies
    • Estimation of rating agency capital ratios
  • Stay updated on credit rating agency methodologies
  • Develop productive relationships internally and externally

Requirements:

  • Experience in risk or capital issues
  • Qualified accountant/CFA/FRM or relevant Masters
  • Numeric, analytical, and drafting skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
