Job Description

To lead on the design, development, delivery, quality assurance and evaluation of Child Protection and GIRFEC learning and development initiatives to a range of staff from various agencies, services and organisations in Moray.

To assist the Joint Learning and Development Sub-Group of the Moray Child Protection Committee and GIRFEC Leadership Group to design, develop, implement and evaluate a partnership workforce development strategy based on a joint training needs assessment.

Responsibilities

To identify training priorities in liaison with the Joint Learning and Development Sub-Group, relevant Heads of Service, Chief Social Work Officer and Organisational Development Manager according to statutory requirements and service priorities and take appropriate actions to meet these learning and development gaps, synchronising with single agency requirements where it is efficient and prudent to do so.

To plan staff development and training programmes to meet identified priorities.

To co-ordinate and directly deliver multi-agency training in relation to Child Protection, GIRFEC and other identified priorities and be available for staff consultation on these issues.

To be involved in the commissioning and delivery of multi-agency staff development and training programmes in the identified areas to meet need where appropriate within budget provision.

To be involved in the development, design and delivery of Post Registration Training and Learning and Continuous Professional Development from a multi-agency perspective.

To monitor and evaluate effectiveness of multi-agency learning and development programmes and take action to address the identified gaps.

The Individual

Experience in developing, delivering, facilitating and evaluating the impact of training, learning and development.

Educated to degree level of professional equivalent.

Knowledge of and commitment to work effectively within relevant legislation and practice.

Effective assessment and report writing skills.

Effective communication and mediation skills.

The ability to promote equalities, human rights, health and safety, and participation.

Knowledge and understanding of multi-agency working, especially in relation to the support and protection of children.

Ability to deliver effective training, learning and development programmes at different levels.

Advanced presentation skills.

Ability to work effectively with groups of people.

Travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car.

Effective communication skills: oral and written.

Ability to work effectively and positively as part of a team and contribute to the service development.

Appreciation, acceptance of and commitment to the importance of confidentiality.

Ability to make good use of supervision.

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Ability to work in an open plan office.

Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements.

Ability to deliver classroom based training sessions for sustained periods as required.

Starting salary: £41,696

£22.12 per hour

36.25 hours per week

Temporary for 24 months
