Cuiken Primary School is a non-denominational, co-educational school situated within the Penicuik area of Midlothian. It has capacity for a two stream school with 15 classroom bases, all of which open onto shared atrium areas. Other facilities include a gym/assembly area, an expressive arts room, library and a number of small tutorial rooms. We have a complex needs provision, which provides specialist support along with an enhanced class which offers flexible support. The school kitchen serves a dining area with the opportunity for outdoor eating when the weather is bright. The school currently has 10 classes for P1 and P7 pupils with a roll of around 220 pupils, and an Early Learning and Childcare setting with spaces for 64 pupils aged 3-5 receiving 1140 hours of ELC over a session.
We work closely with Penicuik High School and the other feeder primaries, to promote social and educational inclusion and to provide a supportive and healthy environment for pupils and staff. As Penicuik Learning Community we work together with a range of partners to improve the outcomes of all of our learners and their families. Partners include e.g. Children and Families team, Women's Aid and play therapy.
We aim to provide a warm and caring learning environment where pupils, parents and members of the community feel welcome and where a positive partnership between home and school is encouraged.
