Job summary

The Student Lifecycle User Experience Product Owner is pivotal in driving the transformation of the Student Lifecycle at Imperial College London. With responsibility for leading the user experience capabilities within the Product Line, you will ensure students remain at the centre of the transformation that will deliver a seamless digital journey from outreach to alumni.

The Product Owner has responsibility for the industry leading Student CRM product and the student facing My Imperial product, you will drive the simplification of the technology estate and deliver against the ambitious transformation plans. With ownership of executive and senior stakeholders, you will ensure the product portfolio delivers value and aligns with business plans to fulfil the strategic priority of a world leading student experience.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Accountable for the delivery of the Student Lifecycle user experience product portfolio.
  • Improves user experience, working to create an amazing student experience underpinned by excellent service that staff are enabled to deliver.
  • Establishes a vision for the product portfolio, developing portfolio/product strategy and clear roadmaps for each product within the portfolio.
  • Communicates the vision of the student lifecycle transformation and the product roadmaps to all stakeholders across Imperial College London.
  • Management of suppliers; commercially and operationally.
  • Leads the Student Lifecycle User Experience team, building a high performing team to deliver the transformation.

Essential requirements

  • The competency requirements for this job are described below. Product Management Knowledge and experience in managing digital products within an integrated business and technology roadmap.
  • Creates and manages product roadmaps, delivering against these roadmaps and creating a regular cadence of delivery to realise a product line strategy.
  • Experience delivering products using agile methodologies.
  • Able to prioritise feature development to achieve business outcomes. User experience Builds products that have the user at the centre of them, with clarity of the user goals and intuitive interfaces to create a frictionless user experience.
  • Experience of applying a user centric approach to building products, via user experience (UX) and/or service design principles to identify the key touchpoints in a user journey.
  • Utilises product analytics to inform product decisions on improving user experience.
  • Conducts user research and product discovery to inform the user experience required across a product portfolio. Stakeholder Management Manages cross functional stakeholders to maintain alignment and direction towards achieving the vision of a Product Line.
  • Able to work across multiple teams to collaborate and achieve a common outcome. Applying negotiation and influencing skills where appropriate.
  • Manages competing priorities, balancing the needs of various stakeholders against resource capacity and desired outcomes.
