Stipendiary Lecturership in Biochemistry

St Edmund Hall proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Biochemistry Science from 1 October 2024 until 30 September 2025. This is a fixed-term post to cover tutorials in biochemistry in the areas of protein and membrane biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics and metabolism .

The successful candidate will be required to provide four weighted hours of tutorials and classes per week to first, second, third-year or visiting undergraduate students on a range of topics broadly related to physical biochemistry, membrane and protein biochemistry, metabolism and structural biology (related to papers 3 and 4 of the part I course). The content of these tutorials will be defined in collaboration with the organizing tutor.

The appointment will be made on the Senior Tutors' Committee recommended scale for 4-hour Stipendiary Lecturers (currently £10,162 to £11,322 per annum subject to revision in line with national adjustments) and will be pensionable with the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

The Lecturer will also be entitled to lunch and dinner at the Common Table throughout the period of the appointment whenever the College Kitchen is open and the use of a bookable teaching room.

Applicants should hold a doctorate in Biochemistry (or a closely related discipline), or be well advanced in relevant doctoral study, have good academic standing and have experience of preparing and teaching tutorials in Biochemistry.

Interviews are expected to take place in the week commencing 5 August 2024. Interviews will take place in person if possible but online interviews can be scheduled where needed.
