An exciting opportunity has opened up to join the Shetland Islands Council as a Modern Apprentice, working in either Community Care Resources or Adult Services.

Community Health & Social Care are seeking Modern Apprentices to join existing residential care teams across Shetland, providing support to elderly adults, adults with mental health challenges, and adults with learning disabilities and autism. The Modern Apprentices will be trained on how to offer person-centered assistance following regulations and guidelines, attending to the physical, social, and emotional needs of customers in residential settings. Support will be provided for workplace studies through Shetland College, enabling successful candidates to grasp their role fully and achieve an SVQ Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6.

Modern Apprentices work 35 hours a week (with fewer hours available upon request) in a flexible shift system, including evenings and weekends, to cater to customers' needs at all times. An enhanced hourly rate is provided for weekend shifts.
