Senior Salaries Review Body - Judicial Member



£300 per day

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a Judicial Member of the Senior Salaries Review Body (SSRB).



Established in May 1971, the SSRB is renowned for its role as a respected pay review body. Currently, the SSRB is addressing various challenges such as potential impacts of defense reforms on senior military officers' compensation, the development of a new SCS pay structure, and a recent comprehensive review of judicial salaries.



The SSRB is seeking a new Member with a Judicial or legal background to join their board.



As a member of the SSRB, you will have the chance to work on a stimulating agenda and gain valuable insights into various senior public service professions. Additionally, you will play a crucial part in shaping the future direction of the SSRB by contributing to its strategies and recommendations.



The responsibilities of this role include:



  • Developing well-researched and evidence-based recommendations for all remit groups
  • Creating concise reports explaining the rationale behind SSRB's recommendations
  • Undertaking additional projects as outlined in SSRB's terms of reference
  • Engaging actively in discussions, providing constructive challenges to complex proposals
  • Establishing and nurturing strong professional relationships with key stakeholders


We are looking for individuals with a solid background in the legal sector, experience working with the Judiciary or legal professionals, and a history of collaboration with committees and boards. Candidates should possess the ability to analyze complex data, offer valuable insights, and contribute to practical recommendations on intricate and sensitive matters. Proficiency in fostering effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and providing constructive input is crucial. While prior experience on a remuneration committee or familiarity with pay and reward systems is beneficial, it is not mandatory.
