This is an exciting opportunity, over an eighteen-month contract, to take a leading role in designing and delivering the application integration solutions that will enable the University's Student Information System (SIS) Project to be successful. The SIS Project aims to replace the current in-house student records application with Ellucian Banner, as part of a wider programme of work to improve student experience and business process efficiency.

Working with an exceptional team of Principal Engineers you will be supporting delivery leads and teams of engineers and analysts and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the University.

Contributing technical expertise to procurement, project planning and solution delivery, you will act as a technical leader for application integration teams ensuring development is aligned to the University's 2030 Strategy and architectural roadmaps.

Specifically, you will work with the University's Microsoft Azure based Integration Platform to deliver effective integration solutions that enable the specific business process enhancements identified in the project.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • contributing to enterprise architecture roadmaps in application development and software integration which support the university strategic aims
  • providing complex specialist technical consultancy in the areas of technology choice, software and system design, development frameworks and standards
  • maintaining and applying up to date, specialist knowledge of application development and software integration in the design of solutions
  • identifying and promoting opportunities for innovation or use of emerging technologies to enable the strategic aims of the university.

IT Services is committed to delivering exceptional performance from the University's information technology systems and invest in the people who design, develop and support them. IT Services works in a hybrid way offering the flexibility to work both on campus and at home depending on project or team needs.

You will be joining us during a time of major change to the Line of Business systems, a programme of cloud optimisation of our application estate and a large strategic programme of activity, so if you are looking for a varied role that will provide you with lots of opportunity to develop as a technical leader within a complex organisation, we would love to hear from you.

About you:

  • You will have excellent technical knowledge in the design and development of modern cloud-based application integrations, a deep understanding of the software delivery lifecycle, including the ability to provide mentoring and best practise guidance to engineers within our delivery teams.
  • You enjoy working with the latest technologies, in particular designing, developing and overseeing the implementation of solutions which improve application business processes and user experience.
  • You will be motivated to support the growth and development of our engineers and contribute to the development of high performing cross-functional teams
  • You will be an excellent communicator able to cultivate great working relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders and colleagues
  • You have experience of working with cloud-based PaaS technologies.
  • You have experience working in agile delivery teams, in particular improving and managing CI/CD tooling and services.
