The role

The School of Computer Science within the Faculty of Science & Engineering is seeking to appoint two Lecturers in Cryptography as fixed-term positions. The appointees will be expected to take an active role in providing high quality and innovative teaching in Software Security, Industrial Control Systems Security and IoT Security.

What will you be doing?

The School of Computer Science currently has two vacancies for a Lecturer in Cryptography (fixed term) to carry out teaching to support Undergraduate programmes in Computer Science, contributing to the activities of the Cryptography research group, in addition to being an active and effective citizen of the School and Faculty.

The main purpose of the job is to carry out excellent and innovative teaching. You will contribute to the organisation and delivery of one or more units within an established degree programme. We expect this to include Cryptology and at least one of the Mathematics for Computer Science units. Depending on the selected applicant's profile, responsibilities will range from full responsibility for the unit and the organisation of its teaching team, to responsibility for the conduct of formative assessment and feedback activities.

You should apply if

  • Experience of teaching at university level and the ability to undertake teaching in cryptography, cryptanalysis or mathematics.
  • A commitment to impart knowledge to undergraduate students in an enthusiastic and effective manner.
