To provide an Educational Psychology Service to client groups within the Moray area in accordance with Council policies, legislation, National priorities, and the Code of Conduct for Educational Psychologists.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Principal Educational Psychologist:
Provide consultation and advice for all Service users including children and young people, parents, educational establishments, other agencies, and the Education Authority.
Assess and report on the psychological and educational needs of children and young people in the context of the family, school and wider community.
Undertake casework and arrange appropriate and effective interventions for children and young people in co-operation with other agencies.
Contribute to the professional training and development of colleagues and Service users.
Contribute to research and the development of policies and provision for children and young people.
Contribute to ongoing service continuous improvement.
The IndividualExperience of working with children and young people in a professional capacity
Honours Degree in Psychology (or equivalent) recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Professional qualification (higher degree) in Educational Psychology recognised by the BPS and the Health Professions Council (HCPC)
Either registration or working towards HCPC registration
Wide range of assessment and communication skills
Objectivity
Ability to work effectively with children, young people, parents and professional colleagues
Follow the BPS code of conduct for Educational Psychologists and adhere to the professional standards for HCPC registration
Effective organisational skills
Professional commitment and enthusiasm
You will be expected to travel efficiently between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray, this is normally undertaken by use of a car.
Flexibility and diplomacy
Ability to work both independently and as a team
Capacity to work with complex human problems
Work in locations across Moray and travel between these.
Be flexible in use of base office provision.
