Kew House School was established in the conviction that there exists an opportunity for a different kind of independent secondary school in London – academically demanding but with a forward-thinking approach to selection criteria, the flexibility of the curriculum, the shape of the school day, and recognition of creativity and talent. A character-selective school, we pride ourselves on the support and care we extend to our 600 pupils whilst striving to add value to their success in all fields of academia, sport, and creativity. Kew House has successfully grown over ten years since its foundation and was recently awarded the ISI "Excellent" grading.
Facilities
The buildings are equipped with modern facilities with interactive smartboards and access to iPads. The Geography Department have digital subscriptions to Kerboodle, Active Learn, Curriculum Press, ArcGIS, and OS Maps, and are also members of the RGS and GA.
Curriculum
Our KS3 curriculum includes a diverse range of topics designed to build up pupils' skills and passion for the subject. To maintain the quality and relevance of lesson content, we continuously develop our schemes of work in response to dynamic world events. At KS4 we follow the Edexcel B specification which is taught over three years to allow pupils to fully engage with the curriculum and various enrichment activities. At KS5 pupils follow the Edexcel specification and have access to a wide range of resources and opportunities, both onsite and offsite, to consolidate and enhance their learning. The school's aim is to provide a rich and broad education to all pupils, whatever their specialism. Whilst we aim to achieve the highest academic results for each pupil, we do not serve as an examination "factory".
Extra-Curricular
The Geography Department is central to the school's extra-curricular provision, with a wide range of trips and visits. For example, we run day trips for KS3 pupils, an Iceland trip at GCSE, and are launching a Norway visit for our rapidly growing KS5 cohort. In addition, pupils have various opportunities to engage with fieldwork, whether through local case studies including Brentford and Stratford, or further afield in Wales and the Lake District. Pupils also benefit from access to the RGS lectures, visiting speakers, and offsite study courses.
