NETWORK ARCHITECT - Fortinet SD-WAN

CONTRACT

STEVENAGE
Leading Managed Services Provider in the Defence Sector require a Domain Network Architect to join their project in Stevenage.

Should have good understanding of how to network Edge compute solutions such as client's Virtual Edge within typical OT/IT deployments.

How Virtual Edge type solutions fit within the overall design and how to automate the deployment of these edge nodes at scale.


Knowledge of the SD-WAN based technologies required to support Edge compute deployments such as Virtual Edge, including Fortinet SD-WAN but potentially in the future other leading SD-WAN providers such as Cisco, WMware and Palo Alto.

Create and maintain the network automation required for efficient low cost deployment of platforms such as Virtual Edge, including support for failover of resilient systems.

In particular detailed knowledge of how to achieve this with Fortinet SD-WAN as this is the initial focus of deployments.

As part of the automation support work with teams providing public and private cloud infrastructure support for the overall solution to assist them in integrating their solutions within the automation framework.

Working with the wider team be able to design, implement and validate the automation required for these deployments as part of new deployments and to maintain support of running environments when these require network functionality upgrades.

Mandatory skills

Mid-level experience as a Network Architect with good experience of Firewalls (Fortinet) or similar role (such as development / delivery of managed services, ideally within a managed security services environment but not essential)
Understanding and addressing Customer needs - creating and leading solutions to deliver value as part of the overall service

Proven experience in creation of operational support, knowledge guides, and training material which provides training and knowledge transfer, to develop and implement support process.

Stakeholder management, influencing, negotiating, bringing consensus to drive positive outcomes
Preferred Key Skills

Good technical knowledge across some or all of:
Physical, virtual & cloud networking concepts, inc. routing, sdwan, etc
Firewall technologies - application of both physical and virtual
Understanding of cloud security technologies and concepts
Understanding of cloud native security controls
Infrastructure as code
Understanding of operating within Lean Portfolio Management / Matrixed model working with multiple stakeholders
Understanding of edge compute platforms and ideally client's Virtual Edge solution.
SD-WAN in physical and virtual deployments.
Deep understanding of Fortinet networking and automation
Roles and Responsibilities-Build and maintain relationships with appropriate vendors as well as key client stakeholders across portfolio and service lines

Design and implementation of network and security solutions for clients in various industries to include solutions that support IT and OT.

As a part of the product development team you will identify network and security requirements for the Security and OT products and proposing solutions based on those requirements.

Creating and maintaining documents for Network Designs (HLD/LLD) for LAN/WLAN/WAN and implementation Plans, Create, Test & Evaluate Solution.
Work with project teams to ensure successful implementation of designed solution, ensuring timely delivery and meeting customer expectations.
Define and document requirements for the solution building strong relationships and acting as a major influencer to drive successful Customer outcomes
Lead the technical development of the OT services with customer outcomes in mind. The OT services leverage both client and third party tooling
Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning and Pre- and Post-PI Planning, System and Solution Demos, and Inspect and Adapt(I&A) events
Support technology/engineering aspects of program and solution Kanbans
Support and foster Built-In Quality and Team and Technical Agility
Supporting global and regional presales as required on Sales/Bid/Enablement activities
Reporting of key metrics / Progress
