About the role:
The Overarching aim of the Children Wales Act is to help protect children's rights by prohibiting the physical punishment of children by parents and those acting in loco parentis within Wales.
- The role of the Parenting worker will be to help develop and deliver tailored plans of support to individuals referred by the police for support through the diversionary scheme.
- Undertaking planned activities that contribute to better outcomes for families.
- To develop positive and engaging relationships with parents, adopting a trauma informed approach to supporting them.
- Signposting families and children to partner organisations in order to make use of support services and to attend local provision.
- Identifying and promoting positive aspects of parents' relationships and interaction with their children, including maintaining accurate records of parents' progress as an integral part of delivering parenting support.
- To Liaise with other professional from statutory and voluntary sector to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families.
About you:
- Flexible in adapting to change in order to meet the needs of the service.
- Able to work independently or part of a team
- Commitment to the development of practice and services that promote equality and inclusiveness
- Excellent communication skills both written and orally including the ability to communicate a wide range of people in an appropriate and professional manner
- Commitment to and understanding of the principle of confidentiality.
- Ability to organise, prioritise and manage work.
What you will do:
- Be responsible for delivering high quality parenting support.
- To contribute to and work to the guidance of the Start Well Programme, Childrens commissioning team and the Powys parenting Forums.
- Undertake and promote the actions described in the Welsh Government parenting guidance.
- To ensure practice is in line with all Wales safeguarding procedures
- Work flexibly to suit the needs of the service. This will include weekend working and evening or early morning working, in consultation with the Manager and in accordance with the needs of the service.
- When required support the Commissioning team with community events, group work and awareness raising opportunities.
