Our Client is a creative, solutions driven and ambitious organisation, with a family business mentality although employing nearly 2000 staff, over several sites.


The company is succession planning as the current Group Payroll Manager is working towards retirement.

Therefore we are seeking a dedicated and driven individual to support the Group Payroll Manager with a view to stepping up and ultimately taking over.

We re seeking an experienced hands-on Payroll professional with supervisory/management experience, who will be supervising a Payroll Officer and a Payroll Systems Advisor in the co-ordination and processing of 8 monthly payrolls.

Ideally you will have good solid knowledge of Chris21 payroll/HR system as they will be transferring to the web-based version iChris Frontier software very soon.

Or working knowledge of a similar HR/Payroll integrated system. Also with knowledge of Time and Attendance systems.

You'll be working in a truly exciting, creative, innovative and very well established, successful business. It's a genuinely supportive environment and study support is offered and encouraged.

The role will involve

  • Working with and leading the payroll team in the timely and efficient processing of several monthly payrolls across the group using the Chris21 HR integrated system.
  • Working closely with the HR Team who supply all employee related data and advising on any pay related issues.
  • Completion of month end and year end reconciliations, including full submissions to HMRC.
  • Responsibility for the administration of the company pension schemes and ensuring all payroll complies with pension regulations.
  • Collation and submission of all Benefit in Kind data in line with HMRC requirements as well as general reporting on Gender Pay Gap data, collating and analyse KPI s, ensuring information is provided to the Auditors and more
The ideal person will have

  • Previous supervisory experience in a busy payroll department.
  • Ideally CIPP qualified - or this can be funded.
  • Strong knowledge of Payroll Legislation and a good understanding of UK Employment law including maternity/paternity/shared parental leave.
  • Knowledge of Tax, National insurance, ability to do manual calculations and pension administration and legislation knowledge.
  • You will naturally be a numbers person with a passion for figures and finer detail as well as having excellent Excel skills.
