Main duties & responsibilities
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Mental Health Nursing) will provide high-quality academic input to planning, teaching, assessing and evaluating modules and programmes (BSc, MSc and apprenticeship), and contribute to our continuing professional development portfolio. You will adopt an inclusive approach to teaching design, supporting successful learner outcomes, with the use of learning technologies and blended approaches to create a positive learner experience. You will be involved in the selection, recruitment and assessment of students where required, and have responsibility for the supervision, support and progress review of students. You will have experience maintaining and presenting data and reports in relation to your teaching and academic quality.
Senior Lecturers will also take on Module Leadership, whilst engaging in research and scholarly activity.
Skills and experience needed
You will have experience of teaching and supporting mental health nursing students and knowledge of current NMC requirements and standards of proficiency. You will also be able to demonstrate your ability to incorporate the values and principles of recover and wellbeing approaches within your practice. You will be able to evidence your ability to work with autonomy and as part of a team, as well as being proficient in English language, having excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role requires you to be able to work to tight deadlines, remain motivated, committed and student-focused individual.
Qualifications required
Minimum of a honours degree (or equivalent qualification) or higher academic qualification in a relevant subject area. You must be an NMC registered mental health nurse.
The senior lecturer will have a postgraduate qualification (such as a PgDip/Masters or equivalent) in a related area.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
Our commitment to the University's Safeguarding Policy, requires that the recruitment of staff in this area, will need to undertake the minimum of a Basic DBS Check. In the course of our work and University-led activities, there may be external or other contractual obligations where a further Enhanced Check is required. DBS Checks may require renewal in line with policy.
